Heavy With Conkers.
I'm feeling autumnal today, i've just asked y UKS friends to tell me their favourite things about this special season and whether their feelings towards autumn have changed since they began scarpbooking.
I thought I would start by sharing this layout which was totally created with the new monthly kit from Happy Scrapper
So here's my five favourite things about Autumn :-
1. Conker hunts, you can't beat finding free treasure and popping open those shells which have fallen to the ground.
2. Leaf Kicking, how fab is leaf kicking on a sunny autumnal morning?
3. I love the reds and oranges of the season, my favourite colours forming a huge autumnal blanket.
4. Those crisp autumnal mornings followed by warm hazy sunny afternoons as the seasons battle to change.
6. The cooler nights sat by my large window with a mug of something warm, cuddling my hubby.
So here's the thing, the season I used to dislike most of all was autumn, it always seemed damp and dreary to me, everything was dying and the days were shortening. Then I discovered scrapbooking and it photography and it all changed, I love the colours and the smells of an Autumn walk and I love that in their last breaths all the plants and trees put on one more magnificent show.
Autumn for me now is truly a magical colourful season.

Conkers come off the Horse Chestnut trees, do you not all have conker fights in the US?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!! Eish, I swear every time I come here I want to start this scrapbooking thing but I don't know if I'd ever be as creative as the other scrapbookers I see.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if you could maybe help me out. I'm really quite interested in starting with scrapbooking but I'm not sure how to begin, what I need etc.
If you could email me and maybe outline a few things that are good for a 'starter kit' that I should pick up to get going, that would be great!! :)
Btw, in North America they are just called Chestnuts. We've never heard of conkers.
breigh it's not as hard as it looks it's just cos Mandy's extra talented and creative.
ReplyDeleteJoin us at www.craftkingdom.co.uk and have a look at what the lesser mortals get up to. :)
I love leaf kicking, seeing the colours, the crisp air.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard or seen kids doing conkers here in the USA mandy. I definately think it is a brit thing. It was a wonderful ritual at the beginning of fall to find the best conkers. :)
scrapbook page is looking wonderful.
Breigh, leave your email address and I'll try and help you out or as Celfy says, I own a small and very friendly craft forum www.craftkingdom.co.uk and we'd all love to help you out, some of our members are just newbie scrappers on there so you would be in good company, we have some US members to so you would feel right at home!
ReplyDeleteAwesome Mandy, I'll head to those forums tonight!
ReplyDeleteI actually live in the Netherlands so I'm closer to you guys than if I lived in the US! :)
(I'm Canadian, just been living here for the last 7 years!)
See you there!
