Visiting York

It's always fun to have a Charlton Family Day out and yesterday was no different as we headed off to enjoy the sights in York.

This is the Yorkshire Wheel and I'll tell you more about that in a moment, first we went for a wee trip into the Railway Museum and had a half hour of fun, entry is free and we do go quite often but it just wasn't my idea of a great mothers day!
Swinging on the end of the train!

Trying to spot dad who had as ever wandered off on his own leaving me with all 3 poppets!

The view from the bridge of the Great Hall.

LOL!!
Then the children ran off and we found dad sitting on the Japanese bullet train

Once we had him we thought we better get quick smart to the Yorkshire wheel as we had already bought the tickets and we didn't want him slinking off again! Now bearing in mind that Paul is terrified of heights and it was a little blustery I knew it would be a fun trip so in we all got

and up we went

Does he look a little worried here, I think we may have been quite near the top at this point!

Iain really enjoyed it and it was a great moment to get an updated photograph of him.

The view from underneath the wheel!

After that I really wanted to go to York Minster because I could only remember going when I was younger and my granny used to take me on the train.

So off we went into the centre of beautiful york.

Approaching the minster

Nearly there

Once inside I was disappointed to learn that they now charge admission fees and it's not cheap so we didn't get to go and have a look around, I did get these next few photos from the entrance though.

We left and then went off down the historic Shambles area of the city.

not wanting to go on forever I'll skip to the family portrait shot.

This was one of 4 attempts, you can see the others by clicking through to flickr.

we spotted this little chap on our way back to the car

It was so chilly by 4pm and I was glad to get warmed up again!
